What is a Mutual Pension?

Mutual PensionsĀ® are provided by a Group Self Annuitisation (GSA) arrangement which overlays Account Based Pensions (ABPs). In return for accepting restrictions on rates of drawdown of the pension and committing to forfeiture on death, participants fairly share in the pool created by forfeitures of other participants.

A Mutual Pension can be used by a superannuation fund to meet its Comprehensive Income Products for Retirement (CIPR) obligations as part of its ‘MyRetirement’ product.
